A useful airport pickup plan accounts for both the time needed to leave the terminal and the drive to the destination. Flight arrival is followed by disembarkation, immigration and customs when applicable, luggage collection and the chauffeur meeting. Confirm the flight, working phone number, passenger and bag counts, exact destination and pickup arrangement before the trip.
This guide explains what travelers and travel planners should expect before and after landing at Miami International Airport (MIA), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) or President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT, formerly PBI). Explore our Miami airport transportation service for transfer options and pickup arrangements.
Before arrival: the information that matters
The reservation should identify more than an airport and a landing time. A useful airport transfer record includes:
- Airline and complete flight number.
- Scheduled arrival date and time.
- Passenger name and a mobile number that will work after landing.
- Number of passengers.
- Number and approximate size of bags.
- Final destination and any confirmed intermediate stop.
- Requested vehicle type.
- Included Meet & Greet details, or the agreed curbside exception.
- Accessibility needs or a child-seat request disclosed before confirmation.
The flight number matters because arrival terminals and schedules can change. Luggage matters because passenger capacity and cargo capacity are different questions: a vehicle may have enough seat belts for a party but not enough room for every suitcase, stroller, golf bag or piece of equipment.
Flight tracking helps, but it does not predict every delay
BHBB USA monitors the flight associated with your confirmed airport reservation to coordinate the pickup around changes in arrival time. You can also check your flight’s progress through FlightAware or FlightView. For check-in deadlines, boarding instructions and changes to your itinerary, follow your airline’s updates.
Flight tracking does not determine how long a passenger will spend taxiing, clearing immigration, collecting luggage or resolving a baggage issue.
The most reliable handoff happens when the passenger turns on the listed phone after landing and responds to the chauffeur or dispatcher. If another person booked the trip, both the traveler and the organizer should know which number will receive operational messages. For a trip that continues into meetings, see our guidance on business travel with BHBB USA.
Meet & Greet is included; curbside is arranged by exception
BHBB USA includes Meet & Greet as the standard airport transportation arrangement. The chauffeur meets the passenger at the baggage claim or public arrivals meeting area specified in the confirmation. For international arrivals, the meeting takes place after the passenger completes immigration and customs and exits the restricted arrivals area.
Curbside pickup is used when the passenger requests it during booking, when an established traveler or corporate travel preference specifies it, or when the passenger requests the change before the scheduled pickup time. The passenger and chauffeur then coordinate the designated loading point once all bags have been collected and the traveler is ready to exit.
Airport pickup locations depend on the airport and the service booked:
- FLL: the airport’s limousine, sedan and van guidance specifies designated pickup areas on the lower-level Arrivals curb. Follow the transportation signs and the confirmed meeting instructions.
- DJT, formerly PBI: the airport’s ground transportation page places general ground transportation on Level 1 at baggage claim. Rideshare has a separate pickup area on the outer curb of Level 3; that location should not be assumed to apply to a prearranged chauffeur reservation.
- MIA: check the airport’s ground transportation resources and use the terminal and meeting point confirmed for your reservation.
Construction and airport instructions can change. Use the current location confirmed by BHBB USA and follow airport signs and authorized personnel; an old screenshot or a pickup point from a previous trip may no longer apply.
Why a business traveler may prefer curbside pickup
Saving time can be the main reason. For someone who flies several times a week or month, the goal may be simple: leave the terminal, get into the vehicle and continue directly home. A coordinated curbside pickup can suit that routine, with a direct handoff at the agreed loading point once the traveler is ready.
Many of BHBB USA's corporate clients also request pickup at the Departures level to avoid congestion that can build up on the Arrivals roadway at certain times of day. This option is available only where airport rules permit it for the booked service. The terminal, level and door must be confirmed with BHBB USA before the passenger heads to the pickup point. At FLL, the published limousine, sedan and van guidance specifies Arrivals; a preference for Departures does not override that instruction.
Familiarity with the airport and comfort managing their own luggage can make curbside a practical choice for that traveler. Traveling with only a carry-on can simplify the process, although it is not a requirement.
Curbside works best when the passenger can exchange messages, identify the correct pickup point and confirm that they are ready to leave. It does not guarantee a faster departure: terminal traffic and vehicle access still affect timing. Meet & Greet may be a better fit for an unfamiliar airport or a passenger who prefers an in-terminal meeting. BHBB USA includes Meet & Greet by default; an agreed curbside choice or established traveler preference determines the alternative arrangement.
MIA baggage claim numbers and your chauffeur meeting point
Miami International Airport announced a baggage carousel numbering update on September 16, 2026: carousel numbers now follow the airport’s door numbers in ascending order, making the baggage claim area easier to navigate.

After landing, check the airport displays for the baggage carousel assigned to your flight. You can also consult FlightView for flight details and baggage claim information when available. Follow the current airport signs rather than relying on a carousel number from a previous trip. The door numbers in this update refer to terminal doors, not aircraft boarding gates.
For your BHBB USA pickup, keep the mobile phone listed in your reservation switched on and reachable after landing. Your chauffeur will contact you upon arrival and help confirm the terminal, level and agreed Meet & Greet location before you move to another area. For a meeting in the public baggage claim area, your assigned carousel number helps your chauffeur locate you. The vehicle pickup point is coordinated separately.

For international arrivals requiring immigration and customs clearance, complete those steps before meeting your chauffeur in the public arrivals area specified in your confirmation. The numbering update does not change that process.
If your luggage is delayed or you cannot find the meeting point, contact your chauffeur or BHBB USA while you remain inside the terminal. Clear communication helps coordinate the next step without unnecessary walking between doors.

Distances and travel times: plan for the exact destination
The examples below cover arrivals from MIA, FLL and DJT to four different Four Seasons properties. Confirm the full hotel name and address: Brickell, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Surfside are separate destinations.
These are planning estimates for the drive from the airport to the hotel. Most figures come from the hotels’ location pages; the two DJT routes marked with an asterisk were checked in Google Maps. Allow additional time for immigration, baggage collection, meeting and loading. Actual driving time depends on traffic, road conditions and the route selected.

* Google Maps estimates, checked September 11, 2026, at approximately 7:32–7:33 PM EDT using “Leave now” and the airport’s named map listing: DJT to Four Seasons Hotel Miami, via I‑95 South, 71.3 miles and 1 hour 18 minutes, with tolls; DJT to The Surf Club, via I‑95 South, 63.0 miles and 1 hour 16 minutes. Kilometers are converted from the displayed miles and rounded to one decimal place. These are snapshots for the selected routes, not guaranteed journey times; check current conditions when planning your pickup.
The hotel sources still identify the Palm Beach airport as PBI; the airport’s own website identifies it as President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT). The Surf Club’s transport table lists 30 minutes from MIA; its FAQ gives approximately 30–35 minutes depending on traffic. These properties are geographic reference points; their inclusion does not imply a partnership with BHBB USA.
For an arrival, add the time needed to leave the aircraft, complete the arrival formalities, collect luggage and meet the chauffeur before considering the drive. There is no fixed allowance that accurately predicts those steps for every passenger. Send the actual hotel, residence, meeting venue or cruise terminal so the trip can be planned for that address.
Traffic, weather, construction and venue access can extend the journey. Check current conditions with Florida 511 and confirm the route for the travel date. A return to the airport needs a separate timing check; the outbound estimate should not automatically be reused in reverse. If your stay includes South Beach or Mid-Beach, our Miami Beach guide explains the local destinations and pickup considerations after arrival.
Included waiting time and additional charges
BHBB USA includes the following waiting periods at no additional charge:
| Pickup type | Included waiting time |
|---|---|
| International flight | 60 minutes |
| Domestic flight | 45 minutes |
| Seaport or FBO | 30 minutes |
| Local / county pickup | 15 minutes |
Additional waiting beyond the included period is charged in 30-minute increments at the applicable hourly rate. These charges are added to the final invoice and are payable when the service is completed. Check the reference time stated in your confirmation for the included waiting period, along with the applicable delay and no-show terms.
The no-contact limit is separate from the included waiting allowance. For commercial airport arrivals, the 60-minute no-contact period begins once the aircraft has arrived at the gate and passengers are permitted to disembark. If BHBB USA has received neither contact nor a response from the passenger by the end of that period, the vehicle may be released for another reservation. If the passenger exceeds this limit without prior notice or reasonable cause, BHBB USA may terminate the service and the full service fee may apply.
A delayed flight and a passenger delay after landing are not the same situation. Flight tracking can move the arrival reference, while an extended wait after baggage claim or immigration may affect the reservation. If a bag is missing or customs takes longer than expected, send a message before the included waiting period expires so BHBB USA can coordinate the next step. Responding does not extend the free waiting allowance automatically. The BHBB USA waiting-time policy lists the included periods and additional billing increments.
Choose the vehicle by passengers and luggage together
A private VIP BLACK SUV may work well for an individual traveler, a couple or a small group. The right configuration depends on both the passenger count and the luggage. Larger families, production teams and corporate groups may require a larger VIP BLACK SUV, more than one vehicle or a Sprinter. Share the number and size of your bags before booking so BHBB USA can confirm a suitable configuration.
Before confirmation, provide the full bag count and identify oversized items. A last-minute vehicle substitution at the airport is far harder than selecting the correct capacity during booking.
Amenities should also be confirmed rather than assumed. Bottled water is commonly provided, while Wi-Fi, entertainment equipment and other features depend on the specific vehicle assigned. Child seats must be requested in advance and confirmed for type, availability and any applicable charge. For company credentials, consult BHBB USA’s licensing information.
Planning an airport departure
For departures from a nearby South Florida airport, BHBB USA suggests arranging pickup at your residence, hotel or designated address approximately two to three hours before your scheduled flight departure, depending on the journey and your airline’s requirements.
International flights, longer journeys or heavy traffic may require an earlier pickup. BHBB USA helps you plan the timing based on your location, flight details and expected road conditions. We accommodate your preferred pickup time through advance coordination and confirm the final arrangement with you.
The appropriate pickup time must also allow for your airline’s recommended airport arrival time. MIA’s airport security guidance recommends arriving at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. Add the drive, unloading and a reasonable traffic buffer when calculating your pickup; the two-to-three-hour pickup guideline does not fit every journey.
For example, a 10:00 AM international flight means aiming to be at the terminal by 7:00 AM or earlier. If the drive for that particular departure is estimated at 45 minutes, unloading takes 5 minutes and the agreed additional road buffer is 30 minutes, pickup would be 5:40 AM. These are illustrative inputs; recalculate with the actual address, road conditions and airline requirements.
Point-to-point or hourly service?
A direct airport transfer is normally appropriate when the itinerary is simply airport to hotel, residence, port or meeting. Hourly chauffeur service may make more sense when the vehicle must remain available for several stops, an uncertain meeting end time or a continuing itinerary after the airport.
The reservation type should be chosen before dispatch. Adding unplanned waiting or stops after arrival may affect availability and price.
